  1. “I got him for her by accident.”

(i) Who says this?

(ii) Who do ‘him’ and ‘her’ refer to?

Question:- III. Answer the following questions in 30 to 40 words each.

  1. On two occasions Bruno ate/drank something that should not be eaten/ drunk. What happened to him on these occasions?

Answer:- At the first time Bruno ate Barium Carbonate which was put by author to kill the rats and mice in his library. As the result he was paralysed to the point where he couldn’t even stand up.  At second time he drank one gallon of old engine oil. However, it had no negative consequences.

 

  1. Was Bruno a loving and playful pet? Why, then, did he have to be sent away?

Answer:- Yes, Bruno was a loving and playful as well as mischievous pet. Bruno had grown many times then his size of his first arrival. Now he was getting too big to be kept at home. So he was sent to a zoo.

 

  1. How was the problem of what to do with Bruno finally solved?

Answer:- Bruno’s size made it difficult for the author and his family to keep him at home, so they decided to send him to the zoo. After being separated from the narrator’s family, Bruno was not pleased. Every day, he grew weaker. The wife of the narrator travelled to Mysore to see Bruno. She decided to take Bruno home back after seeing his sad condition. The narrator and his wife made special arrangements for Bumo and provided him with all of the necessary amenities. Bruno was finally sent home in a little island which the author’s family had made for him.
