Janmashthami is one of the major festivals of Hindus.
It comes in the month of August (or Bhadon month of the Hindu calendar) each year.
This festival is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Hindu’s Lord Shri Krishna.
Lord Shri Krishna is considered one of the most powerful avatars of Vishnu.
The purpose of his birth was to save the world from evil powers.
He killed ‘Kansa’ the evil king of ‘Mathura’ and made his devotees free from kansa’s atrocities.
Lord Krishna holds a flute in his hand and he wears a peacock feather on his head.
On this day, people place the cradle of Bal Krishna in their homes.
The Dahi-Handi program is also held In some states on this day.
Lord Krishna used to teach people through his book “Gita” to follow good paths and never do bad things.
